Turning you life experience into a biz that helps others
If you love the idea of leaving corporate, leaving retail, leaving the 9 to 5 or whatever hours you’re working, and you really want to start your own business and work for yourself but you don’t know what kind of business to start or what to focus on, then you are going to find this episode, really really inspiring and really really motivating!
A good friend of mine, one of my absolute favourite people in the world, Serena Edwards is on the show this week.
She’s the founder of Elegantly Empowered, and her whole business is about inspiring women to leverage their strengths and use them to uplift themselves and others, no matter what they’ve been through.
I’m really excited to have her on the show because so so many people talk to me about how they are thinking of starting a business because there’s a gap in the market, or because they think “this thing” will sell well. And yes there is logic in that but in my experience working with 100s of predominantly female clients over the years, we tend to burn out when we’re not doing something we’re passionate about or something that that gives us purpose.
When we are doing something that lights us up, that we feel that we called to do, the landscape changes for us as business owners. The work is easier, sales flow better, and we connect with the right people at the right time, as long as we follow the very simple business rules of do what feels good and don’t give up.
I’m most inspired when I see people creating a business that helps other people, and I’m really interested in hearing about how they got started, and what inspired them to start their business.
Listen in as Serena and I discuss her business journey including how she helps people, how she turned her passion and purpose into a business, the biggest lesson she’s learnt so far, and what’s coming up for Elegantly Empowered in the next 12 months!
