Speak to the customer you want to sell to

Speak to the customer you want to sell to

When you create content, are you talking to everyone, or are you speaking directly to the people you really want to work with?

If your message is too broad, you won’t connect with your ideal customer.

Your content should feel like a personal conversation with someone who really needs what you offer.

Here’s how to make sure you’re speaking to the right people:

  • Picture your ideal customer. What are their biggest struggles? What goals do they have? What do they value? Write your content as if you’re having a direct conversation with them.

  • Use the language they use - the phrases they use to describe their problems and desires - so your words are relatable and relevant.

  • Focus on their transformation. Don’t just talk about what you do, talk about what they will achieve or experience by working with you. Show them the results they can get!

  • Most importantly, don’t worry about appealing to everybody. Your content isn’t for everyone, it’s for your ideal customer. The right people will feel seen and understood, and that’s what leads to trust, engagement, and sales.

The next time you sit down to create content, ask yourself: “Am I speaking to the customer I want to sell to?”

If not, tweak it until it feels like you’re writing to that one person who needs what you offer.
