How I cut my work hours in half, and you can too
Everything changed when I started time blocking. Here’s how I do it - the easy way ✨
Instead of an overwhelming to-do list, I schedule tasks into my calendar, just like an important meeting. If it’s not in my calendar, it doesn’t get done.
Here’s what that looks like:
📅 Step 1: Start With Non-Negotiables
Before I add ANY business tasks, I block time for life stuff first, school things for the kids, appointments, self care, family time, etc. I don’t sacrifice the things that matter most.
💡 Step 2: Assign Blocks for Business Tasks
I create dedicated blocks for different types of work:
✨ CEO time (strategy, planning for my own biz)
✨ Client work (projects, deliverables)
✨ Marketing (content, emails)
✨ Admin (inbox, bookkeeping)
Each task gets a spot, so I don’t waste time figuring out what to do next.
⏳ Step 3: Protect Your Focus
When I’m in a time block, I’m ALL IN. No multitasking, no checking email, no “quick” social media scrolls. The focus is what makes this system work. I put my phone in a drawer in another room.
🎯 Step 4: Leave White Space
I schedule buffer time between tasks so I’m not constantly rushing, and if something urgent comes up I have space to deal with it without wrecking my whole day.
Since doing this, I get MORE done in LESS time and I feel in control of my schedule instead of overwhelmed by it.
